Port Overview
The Port of Vlore, located on Albania’s southwestern coast where the Adriatic meets the Ionian Sea, is a growing maritime hub that serves both commercial and passenger traffic. While it primarily handles cargo and ferry services, Vlore is gradually emerging as a destination for small cruise ships exploring the southern Adriatic and Ionian regions.

Cruise vessels currently dock at the main commercial pier, as the city lacks a dedicated cruise terminal. However, the port’s central location provides convenient access to Vlore’s seafront boulevard, nearby shops, restaurants, and the city’s historic landmarks, such as Independence Square and the Muradie Mosque.

Port facilities for cruise passengers are limited but functional, offering basic customs and security services. Cruise guests are typically welcomed by local tour operators offering excursions to regional attractions, including the Karaburun Peninsula, Zvernec Monastery, and the coastal village of Dhërmi along the Albanian Riviera.

As part of Albania’s broader strategy to develop its tourism infrastructure, plans are under consideration to improve Vlore’s port facilities and enhance its appeal as a cruise destination. Investments in terminal services and urban development are expected to support future growth in cruise tourism.
