Port Overview
The Port of Varna, situated on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, is one of the country’s most important maritime gateways. While primarily a commercial and ferry port, Varna also accommodates small to mid-sized cruise ships, serving as a key entry point for visitors exploring the western Black Sea region.

Cruise vessels usually dock at the Varna Passenger Terminal, located near the city center and within easy walking distance of the seaside promenade, historical sites, and cultural attractions. Highlights nearby include the Roman Baths, the Archaeological Museum of Varna, and the Sea Garden park — one of the largest and oldest landscaped parks in the Balkans.

The passenger terminal provides standard services such as customs, immigration, and security. While facilities are modest, the location offers easy access to local transport, guided tours, and taxis for excursions to nearby destinations like the Aladzha Monastery, the Balchik Palace, and the resort town of Golden Sands.

Varna’s port authorities have expressed interest in expanding the city’s cruise potential, with future plans focused on upgrading infrastructure and enhancing the overall passenger experience to attract more cruise lines to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
