Port Overview
Located on the southwest coast of Cyprus, the Port of Paphos serves as a boutique cruise destination, known for its historical charm and close proximity to UNESCO World Heritage sites. While the port does not have a dedicated cruise terminal, it remains a popular stop for small and mid-sized cruise ships operating in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Due to the shallow harbor and limited docking facilities, cruise ships typically anchor offshore, and passengers are brought ashore via tender boats. The tender landing area is adjacent to the picturesque medieval harbor, offering immediate access to the town’s waterfront promenade, shops, and cultural attractions.
From the port, visitors can easily walk to some of Paphos’ most important sites, including the Archaeological Park (home to Roman mosaics), Paphos Castle, and the harbor-side promenade lined with restaurants and cafés. The overall passenger experience is relaxed and scenic, ideal for cultural tourism and leisurely exploration.
Port facilities are minimal but include customs, a tourist information point, and basic passenger services. Local transportation is easily accessible, with taxis and public buses available at the port entrance for excursions to attractions such as the Tombs of the Kings, Aphrodite’s Rock, and Coral Bay.
Although it lacks large-scale infrastructure, Paphos continues to position itself as a unique cultural stop on regional cruise itineraries. There are ongoing discussions about future marina developments that could further enhance the port’s capacity and tourism appeal.
