Port Overview
The Port of Olbia, located on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, is one of the island’s principal maritime gateways and a key port of call for cruise ships exploring the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Western Mediterranean. Known for its proximity to the luxurious Costa Smeralda, Olbia serves both large and medium-sized cruise vessels, offering access to one of Italy’s most scenic coastal regions.
Cruise ships typically dock at the Isola Bianca Pier, the main cruise terminal of the port. This facility is situated just minutes from Olbia’s city center, allowing passengers to explore local landmarks such as the Basilica of San Simplicio, the National Archaeological Museum, and the charming historic district.
The cruise terminal provides modern amenities, including customs, security screening, waiting areas, and tourist services. Visitors will find easy transportation connections via taxis, buses, and organized shore excursions, with popular day trips to Porto Cervo, La Maddalena Archipelago, and archaeological nuragic sites like Nuraghe Riu Mulinu.
Olbia’s port is also conveniently connected to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport, just 4–5 kilometers away, making it a strategic port for both turnaround and transit cruise operations. Port authorities continue to upgrade infrastructure and services to accommodate increasing cruise traffic, especially during the summer season.
