Port Overview
Located on the southeastern tip of the Attica peninsula, the Port of Lavrio is a growing cruise and ferry port with a rich ancient history and strategic proximity to Athens and the Cyclades islands. Though historically known for its mining and industrial past, Lavrio has in recent years emerged as a gateway for smaller and mid-sized cruise ships seeking convenient access to both the Athenian Riviera and lesser-known cultural gems of the region.

The port offers a combination of berthing options for cruise vessels, including alongside docking, making disembarkation smooth and efficient. Its location just one hour from central Athens and 30 minutes from Athens International Airport makes it a practical embarkation or transit point for cruise passengers.

Passenger amenities include a modern terminal with customs and immigration facilities, taxi and bus services, and access to guided excursions. Visitors can explore local archaeological attractions such as the ancient Theater of Thorikos and the Lavrion Technological & Cultural Park, or enjoy excursions to Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon, one of the most iconic sunset spots in Greece.

While Lavrio is not yet a major cruise hub, its strategic location, expanding infrastructure, and authentic local character are drawing increased interest from boutique cruise lines and cultural itineraries. Ongoing investments by the port authority and local stakeholders aim to enhance visitor services and promote Lavrio as a sustainable and enriching cruise destination.
