Port Overview
Located on the northern Aegean coast, the Port of Kavala is an emerging cruise destination with rich historical roots, a charming waterfront, and close proximity to major archaeological sites. Its strategic location and authentic character make it an attractive stop for small to mid-sized cruise vessels exploring the Eastern Mediterranean and Northern Greece.

Cruise ships typically dock at the Apostolos Pavlos Passenger Terminal, located within the city’s main port area. The terminal is within walking distance of Kavala’s picturesque old town, the Imaret, Kamares Aqueduct, and the waterfront promenade lined with cafes and shops. The city’s compact size and historical appeal make it ideal for independent exploration or guided tours.

Passenger facilities at the cruise terminal include customs, immigration, tourist information, and access to local transportation. Taxis and buses are available at the port entrance, and shore excursions are offered to destinations such as the ancient city of Philippi (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Baptistery of St. Lydia, and the lush landscapes of the Nestos River.

Kavala combines natural beauty, Byzantine and Ottoman heritage, and modern urban charm. Port authorities, in collaboration with local stakeholders, are working to enhance cruise infrastructure and promote Kavala as a boutique cruise destination in Northern Greece.
