Port Overview
The Port of Durres is Albania’s largest and busiest seaport, primarily serving commercial and passenger traffic, but it is also a port of call for small and medium-sized cruise ships exploring the Adriatic Sea. Cruise vessels typically dock at the main passenger terminal, which is located close to the historic center of Durres and within easy reach of key attractions.

The passenger quay provides direct access to the city, making it convenient for visitors to explore landmarks such as the Roman Amphitheatre, the Archaeological Museum, and the ancient city walls. When dock space is limited, smaller ships may anchor in the bay and use tenders to bring passengers ashore.

Passenger facilities at the cruise terminal include basic amenities such as customs, security, and check-in services. The port area is well connected with local transportation options, offering access to taxis, tour buses, and organized excursions to nearby destinations, including the capital city of Tirana and the archaeological park of Apollonia.

Port authorities are actively working on infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing cruise services and increasing the port’s capacity to welcome more and larger vessels in the coming years.
