Port Overview
Located on the western coast of the Black Sea, the Port of Constanța is Romania’s principal seaport and one of the largest ports in Europe. It serves as a key cruise gateway for the western Black Sea region and offers access to both cultural and historical landmarks, including inland excursions to the Romanian capital, Bucharest.
Cruise ships typically dock at the Passenger Terminal within the port complex, which is located close to the city center. From the terminal, visitors can easily access the famous Constanța Casino, the Roman mosaic ruins, and the Ovid Square—all within walking distance. The city also features a lively seafront promenade and beaches, offering a pleasant stop for cruise guests.
Passenger facilities at the port include customs and immigration, tourist information, basic services, and access to local transportation. Taxis, buses, and guided tour operators are available at the terminal for excursions to attractions such as the Danube Delta, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, or full-day trips to Bucharest, approximately 2.5–3 hours away by road.
Constanța is becoming an increasingly important cruise destination in the Black Sea, particularly for culturally themed itineraries. Romanian port authorities have been working on upgrading cruise infrastructure and promoting the city’s heritage, aiming to enhance the overall experience for cruise passengers and operators alike.
