Port Overview
Situated on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, the Port of Batumi serves as one of the country’s key maritime gateways and an emerging cruise destination in the Eastern Black Sea region. Known for its modern architecture, seaside promenade, and proximity to mountain landscapes, Batumi attracts small and mid-sized cruise ships looking for off-the-beaten-path cultural experiences.
Cruise vessels typically dock at the Batumi Passenger Terminal, located within walking distance of the city center. The terminal offers direct access to Batumi Boulevard, the iconic Alphabet Tower, the Piazza Square, and a variety of museums, cafes, and modern landmarks. The city’s compact layout makes it easy for cruise passengers to explore on foot.
Port facilities include customs, immigration, and basic passenger services, as well as access to local transport. Taxis and organized tours are available directly from the terminal, offering excursions to nearby attractions such as the Batumi Botanical Garden, the Gonio Fortress, and the wine-producing regions of Adjara.
While Batumi remains a smaller player in the regional cruise market, Georgian authorities have expressed commitment to expanding tourism infrastructure, including port improvements and city developments aimed at enhancing the cruise visitor experience. Its unique blend of Black Sea charm, cultural depth, and subtropical setting continues to draw growing interest from cruise operators.
