Port Overview
Located on the southern Adriatic coast of Montenegro, the Port of Bar is the country’s main commercial seaport and an emerging cruise destination. While primarily a cargo and ferry terminal, Bar has started to attract small and mid-sized cruise vessels looking for new, less crowded stops along the Adriatic.

Cruise ships typically dock at the Port of Bar Passenger Terminal, which is situated near the town center. While the terminal infrastructure is modest, the port’s location offers easy access to the coastal promenade and nearby attractions such as King Nikola’s Palace, local beaches, and the vibrant marina area.

From the port, organized shore excursions often include visits to Stari Bar (Old Bar), a well-preserved medieval town located about 4 km inland, as well as trips to Lake Skadar, Budva, and Kotor, showcasing Montenegro’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Passenger facilities at the port are basic, including customs, immigration, and limited services for cruise guests. Local transport options such as taxis and buses are available at the terminal entrance, and guided tours are typically arranged in advance by cruise lines or local operators.

Montenegrin authorities have shown increasing interest in developing Bar as a complementary cruise destination to more established ports like Kotor. Plans are being considered to improve passenger infrastructure and promote Bar’s historical and ecological tourism potential along the southern coast.
